Moonlight was filtering through the broken windows of the church, creating long dark shadows on the dusty floor. Ovidiu was waiting, his red eyes spinning in his head as he tried to break contact with one of his queen triads.

Three bald skinny creatures which moved so lightly that they appeared to be floating, made their way towards him just as he started to come back to himself.

Joanna has been pacing around for about half an hour now and it was getting on her brother’s nerves.

‘Can you sit still for a bloody moment? You’re like a fly caught between the windowpanes, and just as annoying.’ he said rubbing his temples as he threw his phone on the table in front of him. She debated giving him a piece of her mind, but settled on only throwing him an angry look. There was no point in arguing, sometimes she was left with the impression that he didn’t care much about anything or anyone.

Tall arcades and bone like coloured pillars welcomed her as she opened the door. The crumbling walls were still ornated by faint images of saints, their decrepit eyes looking at her, watching, judging. She stepped in and the dust, that has never been swept off the floor, raised in her wake and danced chaotically in the sparse rays of light that managed to slip into the murky room. She coughed a little when the mouldy air invaded her lungs, but she continued to walk forward.
